Make a Prediction (Work with a partner)

Materials: 2 sets of prediction sheets, battery, bulb, wire

Look at each electric circuit arrangement (1-12 & 1-14) on the prediction sheets and 1) make a prediction - Will the bulb light? Write your response on the right side and 2) test it out. Did the bulb light? Write your response on the left side.

Make a Puzzle (Work with a partner)

Materials: aluminum foil strips, 2 punched cards, tape, scissors, battery, bulb, wire

Make a puzzle, conceal aluminum foil conductor so as to not give away which holes are connected. Construct a circuit to try to find if the holes have conductors between them. Exchange with partner to try out, if time permits. See model of puzzle at station.

Use a Puzzle (Work with a partner)

Materials: 1 electric puzzle, battery, bulb, wire

Construct a circuit to try to find which holes have conductors between them. Using the puzzle, find which holes have conductors between them.

Make the Bulb Light (Work alone on this task)

Materials: 1 battery, bulb, wire

Using the materials provided, make the bulb light. When successful get a check from the instructor. Don’t show your neighbor. Draw the arrangement of the materials on the left side of this sheet to make the bulb light.

What’s Inside a Bulb (Work alone on this task)

Materials: 1 bulb

Pretend that you can see through the material on the outside of an electric light bulb. Draw all the wires inside the bulb pictured at the left. Why are the wires hooked up this way? Check with your instructor. If you did not get it right, try it again later.

Bag of Objects (Work with a partner)

Materials: bag of objects, battery, bulb, wire

Construct a circuit to try to find which of the materials, used to connect the bulb and battery, in the bag can make the bulb light.

Object will light bulb will not light bulb
