Science Teaching

1. Describe the main conceptual ideas covered inthis NSES content area.

2. What are difficulties in teaching/learning and misconceptions students have in these areas?

3. Compare the main content ideas of these chapters with similar chapter areas in your classroom textbook and in the Alabama Course of Study. Describe in detail and critically. 4. Describe the major interconnections with othercontent areas. Give examples.

5. Describe knowledge in a specific area to be learned for a specified level of student and outline a LC science lesson which would engage students in learning an appropriate NSES objective. Use a separate sheet of paper.

7. Find support for ideas presented above in the discussions of expert science teaching brought out in Lawson text and the discussions in Sunal’s "Learning Meaning Through Conceptual Reconstruction"
